The are several websites that explains how to create a Ribbon bulletin board or Ribbon memo board. To create my owns, I’ve decide to combine the explanations from Martha Stewart http://www.marthastewart.com/article/ribbon-bulletin-board, to those of other people http://www.diynetwork.com/how-to/how-to-make-a-ribbon-bulletin-board/index.html http://snsribbon.wordpress.com/2008/08/01/how-to-make-a-ribbon-memo-board/ http://www.i-creaplus.com/119/pele-mele/, to my own inspiration.
- 1 Particule board (ca. 20 x 26 inches)
- Batting (same size)
- Fabric with a design relating to the theme of your room (ca. 24 x 30 inches) bought at Fabricville
- Satin ribbons bought at the dollar store
- Thumbtacks
- Buttons
- Hammer
- 1 nail
- Glue gun and a fair quantity of glue sticks
The lenght of ribbon needed in order to realise this project depend of the size of your board but depends also of the space you want to leave between the ribbons. Do not forget that the point of doing a ribbon bulletin board is to put photos, cards and small bits of paper on it. In the case of my pink board, there’s less space between the ribbons but I haven’t putted a thumbtack/button at each ribbon junction in order to get enough space to be able to insert a photo or a card. In my second board, I will leave more space between the ribbons but I will attach every ribbon junction.
I had to do a small hole with a nail and a hammer at every junction of two ribbons in order to be able to insert a thumbtack. I then crushed the tip of the tumbtack on the opposite side of the board. After that, I’ve glued a button on each thumbtack with my glue gun.
That’s it! My room is ready and I’m also ready to do other projects!
